Levine: how does this scene work?  Whose side are you on?

General sympathy until the Courtesan reveals her revenge strategy.  You might be compelled by her, but not necessary rooting for her.

Also the whole notion of revenge-by-rape resonates with Simone Weil’s own osession with rape.
